The brand have focused on the core purposes of active wear through the use of fabrics and detailing, focusing mainly on perforated mesh, taped seams & reflective prints.

The collection lends itself to mono 90’s sports wear trend we have seen developing over the 2014 shows, looking back at brands like Kappa and drawing inspiration from immerging brands such as Nasir Mazhr and SHADE London.

Modest in it’s size, the collection has eight pieces split into guys and girls blocks. The two pre-workout hoodies both feature branded taping strips running down each arm. Drop Dead’s Perspective logo as featured throughout DDS15 reflects underneath a layer of sports mesh on the guys ‘Iron Dreams’ Hoodie. Drop Dead’s core Cross logo is printed on either leg of the ‘Quad Head’ Shorts and ‘Back Packed’ Bag. The Back Pack has a large internal pocket with numerous hidden pockets.

The girls monochrome two-piece featuring the ‘No Cuts’ mesh high neck crop top and ‘Eleven Shorts’ have matching branded white taped rib detailing at the neck & hem seams, reminiscent of 90’s Calvin Klein casual wear.

Stussy Women’s Autumn 2015 Collection

Stussy has presented its new women’s Autumn 2015 collection. Classic Stussy branding is featured right across the offering, which is mostly kept in black and other dark tones, with only a handful of accents in stronger colours.

In addition to the usual bevy of branded graphic tees, sweatshirts and hoodies, this latest release also plays with unconventional materials to street-wear, such as faux polyester fur fabric and a repeating logo print emblazoned on a shift dress and relaxed bottoms. One standout piece is a red and black letterman’s jacket featuring International Tribe embroidery and a signature “S” applique patch.

LCM: Soulland “Exotic/Erotic”

This past weekend, I was lucky enough to be invited to the presentation Danish label Soulland at St George’s Bloomsbury in London. Dubbed “Exotic/Erotic,” the presentation heavily referenced the iconic music scene in Manchester throughout the early nineties; a gritty northern culture where music & football became compliments rather than contradictions.

Rather than implementing the inspirational theme at a consistent level across all styles & garments, the “Exotic/Erotic” theme was used as a guideline, allowing room to incorporating non-related ideas. The result; beautiful jacquard-woven jackets, Teflon coated parkas, cable knits, leather pilot jackets, slogan jerseys and Harris Tweed macs. Adding an interactive element, the crew produced an app, transforming the green screen backdrops into a whirl of rave-kid imagery. “An accolade to emotions of love, to emotions of loyalty and to the art of romanticising the ordinary,”
